The $188 Billion Question: Can We Fix the Great Lakes Water & Sewer Infrastructure Crisis?
March 11, 2021 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am CST
Communities across the Great Lakes region are grappling with crumbling, antiquated drinking water and wastewater infrastructure. No one should be without clean, safe, affordable water in their home. No one should have to worry about sewage backing up into their basement or community flooding that damages property.
Yet paying for water and sewer projects are expensive. It’s estimated that the eight Great Lakes states need $188 billion over the next 20 years to repair and upgrade this critical infrastructure.
Join us for a conversation with three experts who can help us understand the scale of this problem and opportunities to equitably tackle water and sewer infrastructure projects at the federal, state, and local levels. Our panelists include:
- Rebecca Hammer, Natural Resources Defense Council
- Kristy Meyer, Fresh Water Future
- Anthonia Ogudipe, Alliance for the Great Lakes
As usual, we’ll leave plenty of time for your questions.
