September 26, 2020 will be a day of action for the Great Lakes.

Join in and be part of something big! September Adopt-a-Beach is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, so you’ll be joining people caring for their local shorelines all over the world.

There are 3 ways you can get involved:

  1. Clean up a beach. It’s the 35th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup. And our Adopt-a-Beach teams will be cleaning up beaches across the Great Lakes. Our new website makes it easier than ever to join in. Find a cleanup near you. If you don’t see a cleanup that works for you, set up one of your own.
  2. Clean up your neighborhood. If you can’t clean up a beach, you can have just as big of an impact in your own neighborhood. Litter in your neighborhood can find its way into the Great Lakes via storm drains on your street.  And litter is gross wherever it falls! Schedule your neighborhood cleanup.
  3. Go online and spread the word about plastic pollution. More than 85% of the trash Adopt-a-Beach volunteers collect is made from plastic. Spread the word about the impact of plastic pollution on the Great Lakes and how people can reduce their plastic use. Get resources to share online.

Whatever way you choose, you’ll be a champion. Be part of something big for the Great Lakes September 26!
