
Anna Bunting is a lifelong resident of the Great Lakes region, as well as an organizer and advocate for clean water and healthy communities. She is committed to working with communities that have been historically underrepresented and excluded. As the Alliance for the Great Lakes’ Programs Assistant, she coordinates the Programs team’s calendar, stakeholder contact database, and cross-team collaboration.
Before joining the Alliance, they worked with the State of Michigan’s Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate to organize inter-departmental efforts for environmental justice. There she was instrumental in developing Michigan’s first environmental justice screening tool and well as a community-developed tool for Southwest Detroit. They have also conducted research fellowships with the National Wildlife Federation and the Yale School for the Environment focused on equitable access to environmental careers and water assistance programs, respectively. Most recently, she served as a Program Co-Director at Freshwater Future and the Communications & Development Manager at The Junction Coalition.
Anna holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology and Zoology from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan, with concentrations in environmental justice and sustainability and development.
