Become an Ambassador and help spread the word about how people can protect the lakes.
Are you passionate about protecting the Great Lakes and the people that rely on them? If so, consider becoming a volunteer Alliance Ambassador!
The Great Lakes region is huge. And our staff can’t be everywhere at once. Alliance Ambassadors represent the Alliance for the Great Lakes at events across the region.
We give Ambassadors training about the Great Lakes and how best to advocate to protect them. Virtual meetings are held throughout the year where Ambassadors can learn from experts about Great Lakes topics like plastic pollution, invasive species, and water infrastructure. We also help Ambassadors build skills like public speaking and tabling.
Ambassadors are then able to harness their passion for the lakes and put their training to use by representing the Alliance for the Great Lakes at cool events! As an Ambassador, you will have many opportunities to take action for the lakes:
- Give presentations to community, youth, and business groups about the Great Lakes and the threats they face
- Table at community events to raise awareness about the Great Lakes and the Alliance
- Share information and spread awareness on social media
- And more!
The Alliance is here to support you every step of the way. We provide all needed supplies and event preparation and reimburse for event costs, such as parking.
Alliance Ambassadors are vital in helping us spread the word about how people can help protect the Great Lakes. If you are interested in becoming an Alliance Ambassador, contact our Volunteer Engagement Manager, Olivia Reda, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
