As Media Director, Don Carr leads strategic communication and media campaigns to drive the Alliance’s program and advocacy objectives across the Great Lakes region. With over 15 years of experience, Don has led impactful communications initiatives within the environmental sector and green campaigns.
His expertise includes pivotal roles as a Senior Communications and Policy Advisor for the Environmental Working Group, a Senior Communications Manager at the Environmental Defense Fund, and a Communication Director for various advocacy organizations.
As a freelance journalist, Don’s written work has been featured in Politico, Sierra Magazine, the Washington DC City Paper, the Huffington Post, Grist, Civil Eats, and the Food and Environment Reporting Network. His debut eco-thriller, ‘The Midnight Rambler,’ is scheduled for publication in December 2023.
Residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Don dedicates his spare time to hiking, fishing, and skiing with his family along Lake Superior’s North Shore.
