The November election is coming up fast. Races up and down the ballot will affect the Great Lakes, our drinking water, our health, and our wildlife.
Make sure you’re ready to vote. Check your voter registration today, while there’s still time to fix errors before the election. Some state registration deadlines are up to a month before Election Day. A few minutes now will make sure you’re ready to cast your ballot in November.
Also encourage your friends and family to make sure they are ready to vote – it’s easy!
There are 4 good reasons to check your voter registration today:
- Voting laws can change. Some voters face new voting laws that have been passed in their home states since the last election. These laws may require some voters to register again, even if they’ve been registered in the past.
- Your registration status may have changed. If you haven’t voted recently, it’s especially important to check your registration, as some states may remove voters from the rolls as part of routine list maintenance.
- Life changes. You may be required to register or update your voter registration after important life events like moving, marriage or separation, a name change, naturalization, or turning 18.
- Time to fix errors before voter registration deadlines. If an error has occurred, checking now gives you time to fix your registration, so you won’t run into problems when you want to vote. Some states have voter registration deadlines up to a month before Election Day. If you discover that you’re not registered or need to correct information, the earlier you check, the more options you have for fixing it.
