Webinar: The 2026 Election and the Great Lakes
August 26 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT
In November, voters across the Great Lakes region will head to the polls. From local offices to statewide races and U.S. Congress, elected officials play a critical role in the policies and investments that protect the Great Lakes.
Join us to explore what’s at stake in the 2026 election for Great Lakes communities. We’ll discuss pressing issues facing the lakes such as plastic pollution, algal blooms, access to clean water, data centers and other large water users, invasive species, and other emerging challenges — and explain how decisions at the local, state, and federal levels affect these areas. We’ll also cover our nonpartisan voter toolkit, which has actionable ways to learn about the issues, engage with candidates, and make a difference.
As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, the Alliance for the Great Lakes cannot support or oppose candidates or political parties. However, we can, and do, educate candidates and voters on Great Lakes issues. Bring your questions and join us for a conversation about what this election means for the future of the Great Lakes
